Riding Lessons

Hunt seat lessons at Bramblewood are taught by ARIA Level III certified instructor Kimberly Carter Cush.  Our style of riding is systematic with an emphasis on correct flat work leading to jumping.  Students of all ages and abilities are welcomed.  From your first ride you will find our program is a haven where all students are equal and where each is given the chance to become a knowledgeable and complete rider - from the barn to the ring to the field.

Dressage lessons at Bramblewood are taught by Turkish instructor Mihran Dulgeroglu.  The dressage program is deeply rooted in the classical tradition and available to riders of all levels and ages.  Each challenging session with Mihran brings the rider into the heart of balanced, positive and correct training.  Many professional riders and trainers have benefited from revisiting the basics with sessions on the lunge with Mihran - who has a knack for identifying and correcting gaps in their education.  Mihran can most often be seen in the ring schooling our horses in training. Go Here for more information.

Lessons at Bramblewood are fun - whether you're a child or a seasoned pro.  The mood in the ring is lighthearted but our emphasis is on safety first and foremost.  Riding is hard work, but each building block leads our riders up through the levels as they gain a complete understanding of their own physiology and a greater sense of the world around them.  Our school horses are our greatest teachers.

So whether you're a parent looking for a knowledgeable and safe environment for your child to explore the world of horses, a seasoned rider looking for an alternative to the sometimes grueling world of dressage and hunters, or a beginning adult rider looking to fulfill a lifelong dream - come visit our horses and watch a lesson.

Lessons are offered in hour and half-hour segments throughout the day Tuesday through Saturday.  Make-up lessons can be scheduled on Sundays.  We encourage new riders to begin with private lessons and slowly move on to semi-privates and groups.  Riders who already have an understanding of the basics are first evaluated in a private lesson and can then move on to appropriate groups.  Group lessons are kept small so that our focus remains on the individual rider and their particular goals.

Prices:
1/2 Hour Private: $35
1/2 Private with Mihran $45
1 Hour Private: $45
1 Hour Private with Mihran: $65
Group (2 - 5 riders): $35
Beginners: $45

Half Hour Private Lessons
Are currently reserved for those new students who are able to tack and prepare their own horses.  Half hour sessions must run on the half hour, without fail, in the after school and weekend times.

Current students can schedule practice rides throughout the week at a rate of $25.  For those students considering a horse purchase or the use of a horse without the commitment of ownership, Bramblewood offers several horses for half-lease each month.

Holiday Camp 2006-07
In this introduction to the US Pony Club, students were given the opportunity to become familar with the Pony Club system and ratings while learning all the important things we usually do not have time for in weekly lessons: hacking out, bandaging, vital signs, tack care, course design, barn management and anatomy to name just a few.  Though the sessions lasted until after lunch, most riders stayed with us all day and immersed themselves in barn life.
